Gujarat Titans (GT) registered an eight-run victory over Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the 35th match of IPL 2022 and strengthened their lead in the points-table. GT captain Hardik Pandya notched up his third half-century of the season but Tim Southee and Andre Russell restricted their opposition to 156/9 in 20 overs.

In reply, the Knight Riders could manage only 148/8, with Russell being their top-scorer. The Trinidadian hammered six sixes in his 25-ball 48. He was aided for a while by Umesh Yadav, who too swung his bat around quite a bit in the death bowlers.

For GT, Mohammed Shami bowled brilliantly and returned with miserly figures of 2 for 20.

Brief Scores: Gujarat Titans 156-9 in 20 overs (Hardik Pandya 67, David Miller 27; Andre Russell 4/5, Tim Southee 3/24) beat Kolkata Knight Riders 148-8 in 20 overs (Andre Russell 48, Rinku Singh 35; Mohammed Shami 2-20, Rashid Khan 2-22) by 8 runs.
