Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) pacer Avesh Khan was at his ‘level best’ in Match 12 of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Monday.

Avesh lived up to his price tag of INR 10 crore with his scintillating performance with the ball, taking a brilliant four-wicket haul to help his team earn their second win of the season. The right-armer picked up a 4-fer while conceding only 24 runs in his quota of 4 overs as LSG defeated SRH by 12 runs at the D.Y Patil Stadium, successfully defending a total of 169.

For his sensational performance with the ball, the 25-year-old received the ‘Man of the Match’ award as well. After the game, Avesh, along with all-rounder Deepak Hooda, who smashed a remarkable half-century, spoke to each other regarding their respective performances.

During the conversation, Avesh revealed that his mother is hospitalised, and he wants to dedicate the ‘Man of the Match’ award to his mother. The Indore-based speedster also mentioned that he got a lot of support from his mother.

“I would like to dedicate this performance to my mother, who is hospitalised. I received a lot of support from her. After the match, I picked up my phone and connected with her on a video call and gave her the details of the match. By God’s grace, she is fine now,” said Avesh in a video shared by the official Twitter handle of IPL.

Upon receiving the ‘Player of the Match’ reward, Avesh had disclosed that he got a lot of support from the captain and support staff which was eventually reflected in his performances.

“The plan always is how I can pick up wickets in the power play and slog overs. I wanted to bowl the slower ball (Williamson dismissal) because we felt the ball was gripping and holding on to the surface. The plan is to always bowl dots and try to hit the yorker length. I always get a lot of support from the captain and support staff and want to bowl with the same rhythm,” said Avesh.
