Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Tuesday acquired the top spot in the points table after successfully defending a low score against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022.
During the game, one incident involving RR’s all-rounder Riyan Parag and RCB’s pacer Harshal Patel grabbed everyone’s attention as the two players got involved in a heated exchange. The eye-catching episode took place after the first innings at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune, where the Royals posted 144/8 in 20 overs, with Parag smashing an unbeaten half-century.
Parag, who drove Rajasthan to a respectable score, smacked Patel for 18 runs in the final over. As they were leaving the field during the innings break, the duo got involved in a war of words and had to be pulled back by other players.
Parag was seen exchanging some words with RCB fast bowler Mohammad Siraj before Patel walked into the exchange. It appeared that Patel was responding to something that Parag might have said.

Parag hammered 56 runs from just 31 deliveries (including three fours and four sixes) to help Rajasthan set a target of 145/8 in 20 overs. In response, the Challengers got bundled out for 115 to lose the contest by 29 runs.
“A bit of satisfaction. The Royals have shown faith in me for the last three years, and I am paying them back bit by bit. I love the pressure, and I am just showcasing my abilities. During the time-out, Sanga came out, and we agreed that 140 was a good total on this wicket. We decided to go big in the last two overs. I wanted to target Hasaranga in his second over, but we lost wickets, and so I had to strategize and go after Hazlewood and Harshal,” said Parag after receiving the ‘Player of the Match’ award.
