Rajasthan Royals (RR) thrashed Delhi Capitals (DC) by 15 runs in the 34th match of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium on Friday.
Chasing the humungous target of 223, DC started well with David Warner (28) and Prithvi Shaw (37), adding 43 runs for the opening wicket. However, Prasidh Krishna dismissed Warner to break the partnership, which also opened the floodgates as DC kept losing wickets at regular intervals.
Lalit Yadav and Rovman Powell did take the game deep to keep DC fans’ hopes alive, but a wicket-maiden penultimate over by Krishna brought the equation to 36 needed off the final six balls. Powell hit three sixes off the first three balls, but it wasn’t enough as DC fell short of 15 runs.
Earlier, Jos Buttler completely demolished Delhi bowlers, hitting his third century of the fifteenth season. The Englishman hammered 116 runs off just 65 deliveries, including nine fours and as many sixes, before losing his wicket in the penultimate over to Mustafizur Rahman.
Apart from Buttler, opener Devdutt Padikkal and captain Sanju Samson also shined with the bat to help RR post the biggest total of IPL 2022. Padikkal roared back into form with an impressive half-century. The left-handed batter smashed 54 off 35 balls, while Samson chipped in with an unbeaten 46 from 19 deliveries as RR managed to score 222/2 in 20 overs.

Jos Buttler becomes the first player to score four hundreds within 8 innings in IPL. Virat Kohli in 2016 had a streak of four hundreds in 9 innings.

This time last year, Jos Buttler had never scored a T20 hundred. Now, he’s scored 5 in his last 24 innings – and 4 in his last 8 IPL innings
A remarkable player making the most of his incredible talents – undoubtedly the best T20 batter in the world at the moment

Jos Buttler already has 32 sixes from 7 games so far. To put this in perspective he has already gone past 6 players who had scored the most sixes in a season. Gayle's 59 sixes from 2012 is his target. Should be easy. #IPL
