A maiden half-century from Abhishek Sharma powered Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) to their first win of IPL 2022 with Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) horror start to the season continuing with a fourth straight defeat under new captain Ravindra Jadeja.

Abhishek scored his career-best 75 off just 50 balls during SRH’s successful chase of 155, with Rahul Tripathi hitting the winning runs and remaining unbeaten on 39 (15). Mukesh Choudhary (1/30) and Dwayne Bravo (1/29) were the only wicket-takers for Chennai.

Earlier, all-rounder Moeen Ali top-scored with a 35-ball 48 to guide CSK to a competitive total of 154/7 after SRH captain Kane Willianson opted to field first at a tricky pitch.

Jadeja (23 off 15) played a cameo towards the end to prop up CSK after they suffered a collapse in the middle overs.

CSK, the defending champions, will take on Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in their next fixture of IPL 2022 on Tuesday, April 12.
