In the 25th match of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) defeated Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by seven wickets at Mumbai’s Brabourne Stadium on Friday.

Chasing 176, the Sunrisers lost both openers – Abhishek Sharma (3) and Kane Williamson (17) – early inside the powerplay. Before the Knight Riders could capitalise further, Rahul Tripathi and Aiden Markram led SRH’s comeback in the game.

The duo formed a dominating stand of 94 runs for the third wicket to take the momentum away from the Knight Riders. Tripathi was looking well set to cruise through, but Andre Russell dismissed him to give some relief to KKR.

However, it wasn’t enough as Markram stayed unbeaten at 68 off 36 to take Sunrisers over the line with seven wickets in hand.

Earlier, Nitish Rana and Andre Russell powered the Knight Riders to a competitive total after a shaky start. Rana roared back into form and smashed a tremendous half-century. He made 54 from 36 deliveries with the help of 6 fours and a couple of sixes.

Similarly, Russell provided the finishing touch with a blistering unbeaten knock of 49 runs off 25 balls. The Caribbean all-rounder slammed eight boundaries, including 4 sixes, to help KKR post 175/8 in their allotted 20 overs.
