In the 31st match of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) defeated Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by 18 runs at Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Mumbai on Tuesday.

Chasing the massive target of 182, Lucknow never really got the momentum and kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Krunal Pandya, with 42 off 28 balls, was their highest scorer as the KL Rahul-led side could only manage to reach 163/8, losing the contest by 18 runs.

Speedster Josh Hazlewood was at his best with the ball, not allowing LSG batters to find the rhythm at all. The right-armer picked up a brilliant 4-wicket haul while conceding only 25 runs in his quota of 4 overs.

Earlier, Faf du Plessis led RCB from the front, smashing an incredible knock to push his side breach the 180-run mark after the Challengers were four down for just 62 runs in 7.2 overs.

Du Plessis stayed until the second last ball of RCB’s innings to ensure his team reached a big total. The South African star scored 96 runs off just 64 balls, including 11 fours and a couple of sixes, as RCB posted 181/6 on the board in 20 overs.
