KL Rahul and bowlers guided Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) to an emphatic 36-run win over Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday, April 24.

With this defeat, Rohit Sharma’s MI is all but out of the playoffs race. It was their eighth consecutive loss in IPL 2022, making them the only team to face this situation during the tournament’s history.

For LSG, skipper Rahul played a standout knock at a surface where other batters struggled to connect the ball with the bat. Rahul notched up his second century of the season to take his side to a competitive total of 168/6.

In reply, MI never looked settled for the chase as they lost their top-four batters for just 67 runs in 11.2 overs.

Young Tilak Varma (38 off 27) tried his best to take the game closer for his team, but after his dismissal in the 18th over, things became easy for the Lucknow bowlers.

MI could only score 132 runs for the loss of eight wickets and again failed to open their account in the points table.
