In Match 39 of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, Rajasthan Royals (RR) thrashed Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at Pune’s Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium on Tuesday.
Chasing the paltry target of 145, the Challengers never really got in any momentum and kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Ravichandran Ashwin and Kuldeep Sen, in particular, destroyed the RCB batting unit to make the low target look like a daunting task for Faf du Plessis-led Bangalore.
Ashwin bagged a three-wicket haul while conceding only 17 runs in his quota of 4 overs. Similarly, Kuldeep picked up four wickets for 20 runs in 3.3 overs. Apart from Ashwin and Kuldeep, pacer Prasidh Krishna also took a couple of wickets.
Earlier, Riyan Parag shined with the bat for the Royals on a track where other batters failed to make a significant impact. Despite the regular fall of wickets at the other end, the 20-year-old kept his cool and smashed an unbeaten half-century to propel RR to a respectable total.
Parag scored a brilliant 56 off just 31 deliveries, with the help of seven boundaries, including four sixes. Apart from the Guwhati-born cricketer, RR captain Sanju Samson chipped in with a crucial 27 at the top as the Royals posted 144/8 in their allotted 20 overs.

#RajasthanRoyals will be very proud of this win. And I'm afraid this is going to hurt #RCB more than the 68 all out.

Rajasthani Royal form continues. Even if score is 150 that’s enough for this bowling unit. They are finding a way to take advantage of the pitch which offers a minimal help for bowlers. #kuldeepsen #Ashwin #prasidhkrishna

#RiyanParag fifty was already a fine knock under pressure. But, after the way RCB big names struggled in #RRVSRCB game, his match winning innings became even more special. #CricketTwitter

This is of why Rajasthan keep promoting Ashwin, not for the good days, but for making the batting order one slot longer on the bad ones. When Buttler does Buttler, it doesn't matter. In this knock everything went wrong except one hitter (and Ashwin's cameo).
