Chennai Super Kings (CSK) finally opened their account in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 after defeating Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at Mumbai’s Dr DY Patil Sports Academy on Tuesday.

Chasing a massive target of 217, RCB never looked like in any momentum as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Shahbaz Ahmed with 41 off 27 deliveries and Dinesh Karthik with a quickfire 18-ball 34 did raise some hopes but it wasn’t enough as RCB could only manage to reach 193/9 in 20 overs, losing the contest by 23 runs.

Earlier, Shivam Dube and Robin Uthappa were completely merciless against the RCB bowling attack, hitting them all around the park. The pair took RCB bowlers to the cleaners and went on to add a dominant stand of 165 runs for the third wicket after CSK were struggling at 36/2.

Uthappa smashed 88 runs off 50 balls with the help of 13 boundaries, including nine humungous sixes. Similarly, Dube stayed undefeated and missed out on what could be his maiden IPL century by just five runs. The aspiring all-rounder scored 95 from just 46 deliveries, including five fours and eight gigantic sixes.
