Rajasthan Royals‘ explosive middle order batsman, Shimron Hetmyer, has immediately left the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 to return home to Guyana for the birth of his first child. The Royals provided the update in the early hours of Sunday, May 8, that the Guyanese cricketer has flown back to his home but will join the squad for the remainder of the message.

Rajasthan uploaded a video of Hetmyer’s departure where his teammates were seen showering wishes on him on this blissful occasion. Hetmyer told the camera that the babies are born only once, which is why he has chosen to be with his wife and family.

“Shimron Hetmyer has travelled back to Guyana early morning today for the imminent birth of his first child. We are helping him in every way we can, and our best wishes are with him and his wife Nirvani,” the Royals said in an official statement.

“We look forward to Shimron then returning to Mumbai and resuming duties at the Royals for the remainder of our matches in IPL 2022. All the best, Hettie. We can’t wait to have you back, this time as a father! “ the statement added.

The 2008 IPL champions are currently placed at third position in the points table and are looking like hot contenders to make the playoffs which are set to begin on May 24. Notably, Hetmyer has been a massive contributor to the Royals’ phenomenal run in the fifteenth season of the cash-rich league. As the team’s finisher, he has scored 291 runs at an average of 72.
