In Match 51 of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, Mumbai Indians (MI) stunned Gujarat Titans (GT) in a last-over thriller at Brabourne Stadium on Friday.

Chasing 178, Gujarat got off to a flyer with Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill providing a stunning start. The pair partnered for 106 runs for the opening wicket to stamp their authority over the MI bowling attack.

Both Gill (52) and Saha (55) smashed their respective half-centuries before they lost their wickets in the 13th over. GT lost a few more scalps before David Miller took the contest to the wire, with nine needing off the final over. Daniel Sams held his nerves and only conceded three runs to help MI win the game by five runs.

Earlier, Mumbai posted 177/6 in their allotted 20 overs thanks to valuable contributions by Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma at the top. Kishan scored 45 off 29 while the Mumbai skipper smashed 43 from 28 deliveries. The duo added 74 runs for the opening wicket to give MI a flying start.

Mumbai then lost the momentum and lost wickets in quick successions before Tim David provided a late blitz with an unbeaten 44 off 21 balls with the help of 2 fours and 4 sixes.
