In the final league match of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, Punjab Kings (PBKS) finished their campaign with a comfortable victory against SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH).

Riding on Liam Livingstone‘s blistering unbeaten knock of 49 off 22 deliveries, PBKS chased down the paltry 158-run target in 15.1 overs with five wickets in hand at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday.

Apart from Livingstone, Shikhar Dhawan (39 off 32), Shah Rukh Khan (19 off 10), and Jitesh Sharma (19 off 7) chipped in with valuable contributions to help the Kings move to the 6th spot in the IPL 2022 points table, leapfrogging Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) with 14 points from 14 matches.

Earlier, Harpreet Brar‘s magnificent bowling restricted Sunrisers at 157/8 in their allotted 20 overs. The left-arm spinner bagged a three wicket haul while conceding 26 runs in his quota of 4 overs. Pacer Nathan Ellis also picked up three scalps but ended up giving away 40 runs in 4 overs.

For the Sunrisers, Abhishek Sharma (43 off 32), Washington Sundar (25 off 19), and Romario Shepherd (26 not out) made notable contributions to steer the 2016 champions to a respectable total of 157/8.

“As a batting unit, we lost wickets in a cluster. We have been a very positive unit. Lot of it we will discuss now after the IPL. We were here, and we meant business and looked to execute things to the best of our ability,” said PBKS skipper Mayank Agarwal after the match.
