In the 69th match of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, Mumbai Indians (MI) defeated Delhi Capitals (DC) by five wickets, helping Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) to qualify for the playoffs.

Chasing a target of 160 at Wankhede Stadium, MI lost Rohit Sharma early, but Ishan Kishan and Dewald Brevis put them back in the contest. The duo added a crucial 51-run stand for the second wicket before both were dismissed in quick succession.

As the required run rate started to mount up, Tim David (34 off 11) and Tilak Varma (21 off 17) took charge, playing crucial cameos to help MI chase down the total with five balls to spare.

Earlier, Jasprit Bumrah displayed his ‘A-Game’ with the ball as the five-time champions restricted DC to a total of 159/7. Bumrah picked up a brilliant three-wicket haul while conceding 25 runs in his quota of 4 overs.

For the Capitals, Rovman Powell (43 off 34) and Rishabh Pant (39 off 33) played some handy knocks to take DC to a respectable total.
