In the 58th match of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, Delhi Capitals (DC) thrashed Rajasthan Royals (RR) at Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Mumbai on Wednesday.
Chasing 161, the Capitals got off to the worst start, losing opener Srikar Bharat for a two-ball duck in the first over. Before the Royals could capitalise further, the Aussie duo of David Warner and Mitchell Marsh steadied the ship.
The experienced pair formed a dominating partnership of 144 runs for the second wicket to take the game away from the Royals. Marsh smashed a brilliant 89 runs off just 62 balls with the help of 12 boundaries, including seven gigantic sixes, before Yuzvendra Chahal dismissed him.
Warner, on the other hand, stayed unbeaten on 52 from 41 deliveries as the Capitals eventually finished the proceedings in 18.1 overs with eight wickets in hand.
Earlier, Ravichandran Ashwin and Devdutt Padikkal shined with the bat as Rajasthan managed to post 160/6 in their allotted 20 overs.
Ashwin, who was sent at number three, cashed in the opportunity with both hands, smashing his maiden half-century of the cash-rich league. The Chennai-born cricketer scored 50 off 38 balls, with the help of 4 fours and 2 sixes.
Ashwin was well supported by Padikkal, who played a handy knock of 48 from 30 deliveries, including six fours and a couple of maximums. For Delhi, the pace duo of Chetan Sakariya (2/23) and Anrich Nortje (2/39) picked up two wickets each.

It's not how you start 5*(13)
It's how you finish 89(62)

David Warner has had such a phenomenal IPL career: almost 6000 runs, averaging 42 and with a strike rate of 140.
Warner being sacked after half a bad season with Sunrisers remains one of the most baffling IPL decisions

Big fan of Mitchell Marsh and David Warner's partnership: a tall right-hander with a preference for facing quicks and a short left-hander with a preference for facing spin
Worked brilliantly for Australia vs WI, Pak and NZ in the T20 World Cup. Now working for Delhi in #IPL2022
