In the 64th match of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, Delhi Capitals (DC) defeated Punjab Kings (PBKS) by 17 runs at Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Mumbai on Monday.

Chasing 160, Punjab didn’t look troubled at 53/2 in 5.4 overs. However, from thereon, the Mayank Agarwal-led side witnessed a collapse and kept losing wickets. PBKS eventually managed to reach 142/9, losing the contest by 17 runs.

Shardul Thakur, Kuldeep Yadav (2/14) and Axar Patel (2/14) were the pick of the bowlers for the Capitals. The spin duo picked up two wickets each to destroy PBKS’ middle-order. Thakur, however, bagged a four-wicket haul for 36 runs in his quota of 4 overs.

Earlier, Mitchell Marsh shined with the bat to propel DC to a competitive total. The Western Australian continued his good run with the willow smashing yet another half-century this season. Marsh slammed 63 from 48 deliveries with the help of seven boundaries, including three sixes.

Apart from Marsh, Sarfaraz Khan (32) and Lalit Yadav (24) chipped in with valuable contributions as the Capitals posted 159/7 in their allotted 20 overs.

For Punjab, Liam Livingstone and Arshdeep Singh starred with the ball, taking three wickets each. Livingstone bagged a 3-fer for 27 runs in his quota of 4 overs. Similarly, Arshdeep picked up three scalps while conceding 37 runs in 4 overs.
