Gujarat Titans (GT), on Tuesday, defeated Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by 62 runs at Pune’s MCA Stadium to storm into the playoffs of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. Opener Shubman Gill and all-rounder Rashid Khan were the chief architects of a sensational victory for Gujarat, who had lost back-to-back matches before this contest.

After winning the toss and deciding to bat first, Gujarat lost three wickets early on a slow track where run-making looked quite challenging. Shubman, however, stood tall and played an anchor role to make sure his side reached a competitive score. The right-handed batter carried his bat, smashing an unbeaten 63 from 49 deliveries with the help of seven boundaries.

David Miller and Rahul Tewatia chipped in with valuable contributions to help GT post 144/4 in their allotted 20 overs. Miller scored 26 off 24 balls, while Tewatia made an unbeaten 22 from 16 deliveries.

In response, Lucknow never looked like they were in any control whatsoever as they kept losing wickets at quick successions to eventually get bundled out for 82 in 13.5 overs, losing the match by a big margin of 62 runs. Deepak Hooda, with 27 off 26 balls, was their highest run scorer.

For Gujarat, Rashid completely dominated the proceedings picking up a brilliant 4-wicket haul while conceding 24 runs in 3.5 overs. Apart from the Afghanistan superstar, uncapped Yash Dayal (2/24) and Ravisrinivasan Sai Kishore (2/7) bagged a couple of scalps each.
