Yashasvi Jaiswal’s 68 and an unbeaten 31 by Shimron Hetmyer guided Rajasthan Royals to a comprehensive victory over Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Match 52 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 on Saturday, May 7.

Jaiswal’s 41-ball knock laid the foundation for the Royals’ big chase of 190 before Hetmyer took his side over the finish line with two balls to spare.

Earlier, Jonny Bairstow scored 56 – his first half-century of the ongoing IPL season – and Jitesh Sharma smashed a quick 38 to steer PBKS to 189 for five after opting to bat first on a hot afternoon in Mumbai.

With this victory, RR have moved to the third position in the points table and are now just a win away from securing their spot for the playoffs.

Brief scores: Punjab Kings 189-5 in 20 overs (Jonny Bairstow 56, Jitesh Sharma 38*; Yuzvendra Chahal 3/28) lost to Rajasthan Royals 190/4 in 19.4 overs (Yashasvi Jaiswal 68, Jos Buttler 30, Devdutt Padikkal 31, Shimron Hetmyer 31; Arshdeep Singh 2-29) by 6 wickets.
