England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), on Monday, announced the squad for the upcoming fifth Test match against India, which is scheduled to take place at Edgbaston in Birmingham starting July 1. The apex English board has named a fifteen-member unit for the one-off Test, which was rescheduled last year due to the COVID-19 outbreak in the Indian camp.

England have retained 14 members from their squad against New Zealand, whom they recently whitewashed in the three-match series. Sam Billings, who replaced Ben Foakes as a COVID substitute, has been added to the squad for the battle against India.

Notably, Billings was called up at short notice after Foakes missed the whole of the third day’s play at Headingley with a stiff back before being substituted out of the game following his positive test. If Foakes doesn’t get fully fit for the fifth Test, Billings will be given the nod to keep the wickets.

England squad for India Test:

Ben Stokes (Captain), James Anderson, Jonny Bairstow, Sam Billings (WK), Stuart Broad, Harry Brook, Zak Crawley, Ben Foakes (WK), Jack Leach, Alex Lees, Craig Overton, Jamie Overton, Matthew Potts, Ollie Pope, Joe Root.
