KL Rahul and Kuldeep Yadav ruled out of South Africa T20Is; Rishabh Pant named India captain

Team India captain KL Rahul has been ruled out of the upcoming five-match T20I series against South Africa owing to a right groin injury while Kuldeep Yadav will also sit out of the T20I leg after being hit on his right hand while batting in the nets on Tuesday evening.

Wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant will be lead the Men in Blue against the Proteas now. Hardik Pandya has been named vice-captain.

The All India Senior Selection Committee has not named the replacement players for Rahul and Kuldeep. Both the cricketers will now head to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) where they will assessed by BCCI’s medical team and decide their future course of treatment.

India’s updated squad for South Africa T20Is:

Rishabh Pant (c & wk), Hardik Pandya (vc), Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ishan Kishan, Deepak Hooda, Shreyas Iyer, Dinesh Karthik (wk), Venkatesh Iyer, Yuzvendra Chahal, Axar Patel, Ravi Bishnoi, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Harshal Patel, Avesh Khan, Arshdeep Singh, Umran Malik.
