The 2022 edition of Asia Cup will now take place in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Sri Lanka was supposed to host the multi-nation tournament in their home grounds, but they have been witnessing a shortage of fuel and food alongside record inflation due to financial crisis.

A total of six teams will participate in the impending Asia Cup. Five Test-playing nations from the subcontinent – India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Afghanistan have earned a direct ticket for the continental championship while the remaining one team will book its berth through the qualification round.

UAE, Kuwait, Hong Kong and Singapore will lock heads in the qualifiers for the 6th spot. The qualifiers will begin on August 20. The three grounds in UAE – Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Sharjah Cricket Stadium and Abu Dhabi Cricket Stadium – will host all the matches.
