Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan has fired shots at the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) after the apex body announced their men’s ODI squad for the upcoming tour of West Indies.

BCCI, on Wednesday, named the 16-member outfit for the forthcoming three-match ODI fixtures against hosts West Indies. The board picked Shikhar Dhawan as skipper and Ravindra Jadeja as vice-captain in the absence of some senior cricketers.

Notably, regular skipper Rohit Sharma along with other stars such as Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant, and Mohammed Shami, have all been rested for the three-match series. Reacting to the squad, Pathan took a dig at BCCI for resting senior players from the ODI outfit.

Not to mention, Rohit and Kohli have not been in good touch recently, and Pathan’s opinion came on the backdrop of India’s defeat in the fifth Test against England at Edgbaston in Birmingham. While Rohit was ruled out of the Test due to COVID-19, Kohli registered scores of 11 and 20 to continue his bad patch with the willow.

Pathan was clearly unhappy with the squad selection as he expressed his stance clearly on the micro-blogging website Twitter. The Vadodra-born cricketer wrote: “No one comes back to form while resting…”

India ODI squad for West Indies tour:

Shikhar Dhawan (C), Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shubman Gill, Deepak Hooda, Suryakumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer, Ishan Kishan (wk), Sanju Samson (wk), Ravindra Jadeja (VC), Shardul Thakur, Yuzvendra Chahal, Axar Patel, Avesh Khan, Prasidh Krishna, Mohammed Siraj, Arshdeep Singh
