Seamer Arshdeep Singh was impressive with his bowling display during India’s opening T20I against West Indies at Brian Lara Stadium in Trinidad on Friday. The left-arm pacer picked up two wickets in the form of Kyle Mayers and Akeal Hosein while conceding only 24 runs in his quota of four overs.

On the back of Arshdeep’s stunning bowling, the visitors, after posting 190/6, restricted the hosts to 122/8 and won the contest by 68 runs. After the win, Arshdeep expressed his delight and stated the happiness doubled after the team’s victory.

“It was a good experience. I am happy with my performance. The team won, so the happiness doubled. Due to a break, I am playing after a long time. So, I want to work with Paras (Mhambrey) sir and improve on my areas,” said Arshdeep in the post-match performance.

“I guess, keeping things simple and using the wicket a lot and using the slower one and at the last just trying to nail my yorkers, I think that worked for me,” he added.

Arshdeep mentioned he was aware of his responsibilities and thanked the team management and captain for giving him confidence and clarifying his role in the team.

“I was pretty aware of my roles and responsibilities. Both the team management and the captain briefed me about my role as a bowler when I have to come to bowl and all. That gave me a lot of clarity and confidence, and I could plan accordingly. The way Bhuvi bhai bowls, he keeps the pressure at one end, and that helps me to get wickets,” Arshdeep added further.
