England will tour Pakistan in September 2022 after 17 years to play seven T20Is, with a three-match Test series to follow in December, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has confirmed.

The 20-over leg begins on September 20 in Karachi, where both sides will play the first four games before they head to Lahore for the last three T20Is.

“We are absolutely delighted to confirm hosting England for seven T20Is in Karachi and Lahore as a curtain-raiser to a busy, entertaining and exciting season of home internationals,” Zakir Khan, PCB director of international cricket, said in a statement.

“England is one of the top-ranked T20I teams and them playing the shortest format in the lead up to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in Pakistan will not only help the team management to finalise their preparations, but will also set the tone for December’s three-Test series,” he added.

England had pulled out of their Pakistan tour last year soon after New Zealand abandoned their itinerary for the South Asian country over security concerns.

Here’s the complete schedule of England tour to Pakistan 2022:

  • 1st T20I: September 20, Karachi
  • 2nd T20I: September 22, Karachi
  • 3rd T20I: September 23, Karachi
  • 4th T20I: September 25, Karachi
  • 5th T20I: September 28, Lahore
  • 6th T20I: September 30, Lahore
  • 7th T20I: October 2, Lahore
