Veteran India cricketers Cheteshwar Pujara and Robin Uthappa have revealed their ideal India XI for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022, scheduled to take place in Australia from October 16 to November 13.
Notably, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Monday, announced the men’s squad for the 20-over global showpiece event. The likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Ravichandran Ashwin and Harshal Patel have all returned to India’s 15-member squad, while all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja couldn’t fill in as he recently underwent surgery on his injured right knee.
Young pacer Arshdeep Singh, who impressed everyone in the Asia Cup 2022, has made it to the T20 World Cup outfit. Similarly, Rishabh Pant and Dinesh Karthik both have been named in the squad for the multi-team event.
In a chat with ESPNcricinfo, after reviewing the squad, both Pujara and Uthappa have picked their ideal XI of Team India. The duo went with the usual batting order to select their top four in the form of star openers Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul, followed by former skipper Virat Kohli and batting sensation Suryakumar Yadav.
When it comes to the middle and lower middle-order, Pujara picked both Rishabh Pant and Dinesh Karthik, along with all-rounder Hardik Pandya. Uthappa, on the other hand did one change and named Deepak Hooda in place of Pant.
On the bowling front, both Pujara and Uthappa had similar opinions as they picked the exact same bowling line-up. The pair went with three pacers in the form of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah, and Harshal Patel, along with Yuzvendra Chahal as the specialist spinner.
