Australian spin legend Shane Warne would have turned 53 on Tuesday (September 13), but unfortunately, he passed away earlier this year. Warne had died on the Koh Samui island in Thailand after a suspected heart attack.

Warne finished his incredible international career with 708 Test Test wickets and 293 ODI wickets. He also led the Rajasthan Royals (RR) to the inaugural Indian Premier League (IPL) title in 2008.

Former India captain Sachin Tendulkar, who had enjoyed many memorable battles on the cricket field against Warne, paid his heartfelt tributes to the Australian legend.

“Thinking of you on your birthday Warnie! Gone too soon. Had so many memorable moments with you. Will cherish them forever, mate,” Tendulkar wrote on Twitter.

Likewise, for all-rounder Yuvraj Singh also took to his official Twitter handle and extended his tributes to Aussie spin wizard. Yuvi tweeted: “Fondly remembering this great legend on his birth anniversary! A man who defined class and accuracy on the pitch through his zest for perfection! May you shine the brightest wherever you are, mate #HappyBirthdayShaneWarne @ShaneWarne.”

Further, on the occasion of Warne’s 53rd birthday, a post was also made from his Twitter handle, possibly done by his family.

“A legacy gives you a perspective on what’s important. It is about the richness of an individual’s life, including what they accomplished and the impact they had on people and places. Shane’s Legacy will live on. Happy birthday – always in our hearts,” read the post.

Another ex-Indian cricketer Yusuf Pathan, who played under Warne in the 2008 IPL for the Royals, termed the Aussie great as one of the most inspirational captains he played under.

“Remembering the legendary @ShaneWarne on his 53rd birthday anniversary. One of the most inspirational captains I played under. Forever in our hearts. #ShaneWarne” tweeted Pathan.
