In the rain-affected second T20 International on Friday, Team India defeated Australia at Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur to level the three-match series.

The match began two-and-a-half hours after its designated time due to a wet outfield and was reduced to an eight-over-a-side contest. Captain Rohit Sharma sizzled with the bat, smashing an unbeaten 46 from 20 deliveries with the help of eight boundaries, including four sixes.

Eventually, the contest went down to the wire with nine needed off the final over. That’s when Dinesh Karthik stepped up and justified his ‘finisher’ tag by smashing a six and a four off the first two deliveries to take India home.

Earlier, wicketkeeper Matthew Wade smashed an unbeaten 43 to power Australia to a challenging 90/5 in their allotted eight overs. The tourists lost wickets in quick succession but continued to score at a good rate after being asked to bat.

Apart from Wade, skipper Aaron Finch chipped in with a valuable 15-ball 31 at the top. For the hosts, Axar Patel (2/13) bowled a fiery spell, picking up a couple of wickets for just 13 runs in his quota of 2 overs.
