The International Cricket Council (ICC), on Monday, announced the winners of the ‘Players of the Month Awards’ for September 2022.

Earlier this month, the international apex body had shared the list of nominees with Pakistan’s wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan, Australia’s emerging all-rounder Cameron Green and India’s star spinner Axar Patel in the male category.

Similarly, in the female group, the nominees were India’s batting duo of Harmanpreet Kaur & Smriti Mandhana and Bangladesh’s captain Nigar Sultana.

Amongst men, Rizwan has been crowned as the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for September 2022, following his stellar show with the bat in the recent past.

The No.1 T20I batter continued his domination in the shortest format with his supreme consistency. He scored seven fifties in the 10 games last month, including his heroics in Asia Cup and in the home series against England.

“I would like to thank Almighty Allah and express my heartfelt delight to all that enabled me to achieve this award. I want to give my high appreciation to all my teammates as they made things easy for me,” said Rizwan, as quoted by ICC.

“These achievements boost your confidence. I am happy with my performance, and I would like to take this momentum forward in Australia. I would like to dedicate this award to the people in Pakistan who are affected by floods and climate change. Hopefully, this will bring smiles on their faces,” he added.

When it comes to Women’s cricket, Indian captain Harmanpreet won the prestigious award. She recently led the Women in Blue to a 3-0 ODI whitewash over England.

Harmanpreet led India from the front during the ODI series and finished as the highest run-getter with 221 runs at a strike rate of 103.27.

“I have always taken immense pride in representing my country, and achieving the historic ODI series win in England will remain a landmark moment for me in my career,” said Harmanpreet.

“The game of cricket is blessed to have some of the finest athletes on the sporting circuit, and to be chosen the ICC Women’s Player of the Month amongst them is a special recognition for me as an individual and the captain of the Indian cricket team,” she added.
