England have announced a 15-man squad for the three-match ODI series against Australia which will take place immediately after the ongoing T20 World Cup with fixtures on November 17, 19 and 22.
Opening batter Jason Roy has been recalled after being left out of the T20 WC squad.
Jos Buttler, England’s white-ball captain, described Roy as “my first choice as 50-over opener” during the tour to Pakistan last month. “We know what a brilliant player he is when he’s on song,” Buttler said. “He will be a vital player for England moving forward. His talent is never going to be in question.”
Eleven of the 15 players in England’s T20 World Cup squad will stay back in Australia for the ODI leg. Roy, Sam Billings, Olly Stone and James Vince will fly Down Under to join their team.
Vince last played an ODI match in July 2021, striking a 95-ball 102 against Pakistan. The 31-year-old has featured in 19 ODIs with 480 runs under his belt.
Billings, who has 25 ODI caps, last played a 50-over game against Sri Lanka in July 2021.
