India continued their winning momentum in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022, defeating the Netherlands by 56 runs at Sydney Cricket Ground on Thursday. It was India’s second consecutive win, and has put them to the top of the table in Group 2.

Batting first, half-centuries from Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav propelled India to a formidable total. Kohli (62 not out) and Yadav (51 not out) partnered for an unbeaten 95-run partnership to guide India to an imposing 179/2 in their allotted 20 overs.

The former India skipper smashed three fours and two sixes, while Yadav hit seven fours and a maximum. Apart from the duo, captain Rohit returned to form, scoring a brilliant 39-ball 53 with the help of 4 fours and 3 sixes.

In response, the Dutch side fell 56 runs short of the target and lost their second consecutive match in the Super 12 stage. For India, Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled a sensational spell, picking a couple of wickets and conceded only 9 runs in 3 overs, including 2 maidens.

Apart from Bhuvi, Arshdeep Singh (2/37), Axar Patel (2/18), and Ravichandran Ashwin (2/21) all bagged two wickets apiece. For the Netherlands, Tim Pringle, with 20 off 15, was their top-scorer in the match.
