Singapore-born Tim David, whose ball-striking prowess has made him a sought-after player in T20 leagues across the world, has impressed since his Australia debut against India last month.

The 26-year-old showed what he is capable of with a brilliant 42 off 20 balls in second T20I against West Indies in Brisbane, where Australia completed a 2-0 series sweep.

On a tacky wicket where most batters struggled to cut loose, David hit three sixes and four fours, injecting life into Australia’s stuttering batting performance.

David took a particular liking to Obed McCoy as he smashed 20 runs off the left-arm pacer’s first 4 balls of what was the 17th over of the Australian innings before getting out on the fifth delivery.

On the third ball of this over, David smoked a monstrous 110-metre six which went to the upper deck of the massive Brisbane Stadium. McCoy delivered a slower ball but it was in the batsman’s arc and he muscled it with full power. “It’s gone, big one, the upper decker from Tim David and it bounces back. That’s like a baseball shot,” the commentator expressed while describing the shot.

The video of the six was shared by cricket.com.au on their official Twitter handle with the caption: “Tim David with the one-two punch! The second six travelled 110m!”

As far as the match is concerned, the hosts won the contest by 31 runs, having reduced West Indies to 147/8 after scoring 178/7 in their stipulated 20 overs. Mitchell Starc (4/20) was the pick of the bowlers for Australia.
