The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the squad for India A’s two four-day matches against Bangladesh A, which will take place ahead of the two-match Test series between the sides.
Senior cricketers Cheteshwar Pujara and Umesh Yadav are part of the squad, which will be captained by the Bengal opener Abhimanyu Easwaran. The opening four-day match will be played from November 29 to December 2 in Cox’s Bazaar, while the second match shall take place from December 6-9 in Sylhet.
After the two four-day fixtures, both sides will meet in a two-match Test series, which is part of the World Test Championship (WTC), and will be held from December 14-18 and December 22-26 in Chattogram and Dhaka, respectively.
There is a maiden India A call-up for Kerala’s Rohan Kunnummal, who has impressed one and all with his form in first-class cricket. The 24-year-old has hit four centuries this year in nine first-class innings. Apart from Kunnummal, the young batting pair of Yash Dhull and Yashasvi Jaiswal have also made the cut alongside Baroda’s seam-bowling allrounder Atit Sheth.
Dhull, who led India’s Under-19 team to World Cup victory in 2022, has already hit hundreds on debut in the Ranji Trophy and Duleep Trophy. Similarly, Jaiswal has been showing supreme consistency in the domestic circuit. He recently became the joint-fastest Indian to 1000 first-class runs, equalling Amol Muzumdar and Rusi Modi. Jaiswal has five centuries and a fifty to his credit in seven first-class games at a remarkable average of 84.58.
