The preparations for IPL 2023 mini-auction are in full swing, and all ten franchises are busy inking on players they want to release ahead of the cut-off date. They have been informed to release the list of retained and released players until November 15.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) is the most followed IPL team on social media, and the Yellow Army’s fans are anxiously waiting to know which players will stay back with the four-times champion.
According to a report in TOI, CSK has made up their mind to keep Ravindra Jadeja amidst transfer offers. Delhi Capitals (DC) recently offered their two all-rounders – Axar Patel and Shardul Thakur – in exchange for Jadeja. But CSK denied the same after consultation with skipper MS Dhoni who demanded to keep Jadeja in the squad as he is a match-winner and can change the game in his team’s favour with his all-round abilities.
However, CSK has decided to release two overseas stars from their outfit. First, England seamer Chris Jordan – who they had bought for INR 3.6 crore in the mega-auction last time. Second, New Zealand speedster Adam Milne, who was signed up for INR 1.9 crores.
Jordan played four matches for CSK in IPL 2022, snapping only two wickets while conceding runs at a high economy of 10.51. He failed to live up to the team’s expectations of being a death-overs specialist and got smashed to all parts of the ground by Gujarat Titans’ (GT) Rashid Khan in the league stage encounter.
Meanwhile, Milne – known for his sheer pace, sustained an injury in his first game of the season and was ruled out for the remaining tournament. He has had fitness issues over the past few years. The right-arm pacer missed several international games for New Zealand and many matches for his franchises in the IPL.
CSK have Dwayne Bravo and Dwaine Pretorius as medium-pacers in their squad and will retain them instead of Jordan and Milne.
