Australia opening batter David Warner may be a multi-millionaire, but he lives on modest weekly pocket money set by his wife Candice.

David and Candice, who tied the knot in 2015 and are blessed with three daughters, recently moved into a new mansion in Sydney’s Maroubra. It is estimated that the celebrity couple spent about ASD 4 million in renovating the four-bedroom and two-bathroom property.

It all happened after David hinted about his retirement from Test cricket after the Ashes next year, with the southpaw confirming he will leave the Red Ball format first.

“Test cricket will probably be the first one to fall off,” David had said on Triple M’s Deadset Legends show last week.

“Because that’s how it will pan out. The T20 World Cup is in 2024, (one-day) World Cup next year. Potentially it could be my last 12 months in test cricket. But I love the white-ball game; it’s amazing.”

Australia will play Test series against England and India, both away, before returning to India for the ODI World Cup.

His pocket money is healthy: Candice

While speaking to Gus, Jude & Wendell on Triple M Rush Hour, Candice opened up about the couple’s financial arrangement.

The former Ironwoman explained that she limits David’s spending because he sometimes overdoes gambling and impulse buying.

“His pocket money is healthy. I’m the sensible spender while David is quite unpredictable and loves having a punt,” she said.

“David loves randomly buying a horse or betting on the golf course, so he needs an allowance to keep our family alive [and] Make sure the mortgage is paid.

“But the pocket money increases around my birthday and anniversaries!” Mrs Warner concluded.
