Pakistan booked their place in the final of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022 after comfortably defeating New Zealand in the first semi-final at Sydney Cricket Ground on Wednesday. Asked to bowl first, the Men in Green restricted the Black Caps to 152/4 and then completed the chase with seven wickets in hand and five balls to spare.
Pakistan now await the winner of Thursday’s semi-final between India and England in Adelaide. Notably, the summit clash will be played at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground on Sunday.
After the first semi-final, former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan posted a tweet taking a jibe at Pakistani fans for their offensive comments following their team’s victory.
“Padosiyon jeet ati jaati rehti hai, lekin GRACE apke bas ki baat nahi hai,” Irfan wrote on Twitter.
But soon, Irfan issued a clarification stating his tweet wasn’t targeted at players, which also suggests that the former all-rounder was referring to the comments of Pakistan fans.
“And this is not for the player. NEVER,” Irfan wrote in another tweet.
And this is not for the player. NEVER.

Irfan is currently in Australia for the coverage of the multi-team event. Recently the cricketer-turned-commentator shared his thoughts regarding the second semi-final between India and England.
Irfan suggested that the Men in Blue should pick Yuzvendra Chahal in the high-octane clash and reckoned that Rohit Sharma should do well both as a batter and the captain.
“I still want one or two things where he can be even better, especially bring Chahal into the team. If that improves, I feel this team will become even stronger, but you will need these two things from Rohit. Rohit Sharma, the batter and Rohit Sharma, the calm captain. I have always been a fan of his captaincy, the way he remains calm under pressure and manages the game. You need a calm captain in the knockout stage so that he can take his decisions properly,” said Irfan during a discussion on Star Sports.
