Pakistan’s left-arm pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi will miss the three-match Test series against England in December. He has not been named in Pakistan’s 18-man squad for the home series, which includes uncapped leg-spinner Abrar Ahmed and fast bowler Mohammad Ali.

England will play a Test match in Pakistan after 17-long-years. They last toured the country in 2005. Pakistan has twice hosted England during this period in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). England toured Pakistan before the 2022 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in Australia for a seven-match T20I leg and went onto beat Babar Azam & Co. in the T20 WC final on November 13.

Pakistan’s first Test against England will start on December 1 in Rawalpindi, before further matches in Multan from December 9 and then Karachi from December 17.

Shaheen undergoes appendicitis surgery

The 22-year-old Afridi tweaked his right knee taking a catch during the five-wicket defeat to England in the T20 WC final at the MCG earlier this month, while he underwent an appendicitis surgery on last Sunday.

According to Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Afridi will require three to four weeks’ rest following surgery after which he will resume his two-week rehabilitation.

Pakistan squad for England Tests:

Babar Azam (captain), Mohammad Rizwan, Abdullah Shafique, Abrar Ahmed, Azhar Ali, Faheem Ashraf, Haris Rauf, Imam-ul-Haq, Mohammad Ali, Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Wasim, Naseem Shah, Nauman Ali, Salman Ali Agha, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Saud Shakeel, Shan Masood and Zahid Mehmood.
