The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) would deal and communicate directly with the team owners and not with the agents of any player in case the individuals wish to register themselves for the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction for the 2023 season.
As of now, the mini-auction is likely to take place in Kochi on December 23.
The date for IPL players’ registration has also been released by the sources in the know of things in BCCI. As per the reports, the last date for players to register themselves for the IPL 2023 auction is December 15.
“December 15 is player registration deadline. We expect some top players to enrol. As for the auction date, December 23 is the set date for now. We are discussing some franchises’ requests to advance the date. But there are other factors involved. Only after deliberation with all stakeholders, we will come to a decision,” a BCCI official was quoted as saying to InsideSport.
Sam Curran, Ben Stokes and Joe Root are the three England players who have so far put their names forward for the mini-auction. Australia’s Cameron Green is another player who has reportedly signed up for the IPL event and is expected to fetch a million bucks on the big day.

Chennai Super Kings, Lucknow Super Giants, Mumbai Indians, Punjab Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad are the five franchises that have more than INR 20 crore left in their purse after releasing some costliest buys. They will be after the likes of Curran and Stokes as they are world-class all-rounders.
Punjab Kings or Sunrisers Hyderabad can also buy Root as they need a steady batter in their middle order after the release of Mayank Agarwal and Nicholas Pooran, respectively.
