Former India cricketer Wasim Jaffer has been re-appointed as Punjab Kings (PBKS) batting coach for the forthcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season. The 44-year-old had previously stepped down from his job ahead of the IPL 2022 mega-auction in February this year.

Jaffer first joined the Mohali-based franchise back in 2019 and worked with them for three seasons.

“The one you had been waiting for, introducing our Batting Coach, Wasim Jaffer! Reply with a meme to welcome the King!,” tweeted PBKS, confirming Jaffer’s return to their camp.

PBKS have also appointed Charl Langeveldt as their new fast bowling coach, while Brad Haddin comes in as assistant coach.

In September, PBKS signed Trevor Bayliss as their new head coach in place of Anil Kumble. Earlier this month, Shikhar Dhawan was appointed as the new captain by the franchise. In the 2023 IPL edition, Dhawan will replace Mayank Agarwal who was released by the franchise on Tuesday during the last day of the IPL 2023 player retentions.

PBKS retained 16 players and now have INR 32.2 crore remaining in their purse for the mini-auction, which is scheduled to be held on December 23 in Kochi.

Here is the list of players retained by PBKS for IPL 2023:

Shikhar Dhawan, Shahrukh Khan, Rahul Chahar, Arshdeep Singh, Harpreet Brar, Raj Angad Bawa, Prabhsimran Singh, Rishi Dhawan, Jitesh Sharma, Baltej Singh Dhanda, Atharva Taide, Liam Livingstone*, Kagiso Rabada*, Jonny Bairstow*, Nathan Ellis*, Bhanuka Rajapaksa*
