The ongoing T20 World Cup 2022 has reached its business end, and soon the fans will witness a world champion. Four teams are currently in the tournament’s semi-final, and two sides will eventually face each other in the summit clash.
The first semi-final between New Zealand and Pakistan is currently underway, while the second semi-final is set to take place between India and England at the Adelaide Oval on Thursday. The Rohit Sharma-led side will look to end the 15-year wait to clinch the coveted title down under this edition. Similarly, the English team would also be hoping to win their second T20 title.
As the competition is getting near to its completion, many fans and experts have begun speculating on who could possibly make it to the finals. Following the bandwagon, former South Africa skipper AB de Villiers has also named his choices.
De Villiers has picked India and New Zealand as the possible finalists and reckoned thar Men in Blue would lift the coveted trophy. The former Proteas skipper observed that both Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav are in supreme form, and that will help India. De Villiers also opined that Indian captain Rohit Sharma, who is currently struggling to score runs, will be back in the rhythm when it will matter the most.
“I think India will play New Zealand in the final, and I think India will win. Everyone is playing well, Suryakumar looks in good form, and Virat looks in good form. Rohit has not had his best of runs, but he will come to the party when it matters most, he is a fantastic player,” said De Villiers, as quoted by news agency ANI.
“The whole team of India is very talented. So, I am looking forward for them to have a great game against England, which is the biggest test, in my opinion. I believe if they win the semi-finals, they will go on to lift the trophy,” he added.
