The caravan of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 came to an end with England defeating Pakistan by five wickets in the grand finale at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Sunday, November 13.

England outclassed Pakistan across departments with their all-round performance. Put in to bat first on a bowling-friendly pitch, Babar Azam & Co. struggled against the potent English bowling attack led by Sam Curran (3/12). Adil Rashid (2/22) and Chris Jordan (2/27) also chipped in at crucial moments. England bowlers were so effective that Pakistan batters could smash only eight fours and a couple of sixes during their innings. Shan Masood top-scored with 38 off 28 balls as Pakistan posted just 137/8 in their allotted 20 overs.

In reply, all-rounder Ben Stokes unleashed the match-winner in himself and played a sensible knock of 52 not out off 49 deliveries. He helped England chase the set target in 19 overs with five wickets in hand.
