The T20 World Cup 2022 was concluded on Sunday, with England winning the title after defeating Pakistan by five wickets at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The exciting competition was full of entertainment, with some nail-biting contests. Aided by the lively pitches in Australia, the 20-over showpiece event also witnessed some high-quality pace bowling, with speedsters breaching the 150 kmph mark.

Pacers Mark Wood, Anrich Nortje and Lockie Ferguson were the chartbusters when it came to troubling the batters with their menacing pace in the global tournament. English pacer Wood was the pick amongst them regarding the sheer pace.

In the list of the top 10 fastest deliveries of T20 World Cup 2022, Wood bowled six to stamp his authority with extreme pace. He bowled the fastest delivery of the multi-team tournament during a game against New Zealand when Wood clocked 154.74 kmph against Black Caps batter Glenn Phillips.

New Zealand speedster Ferguson is the second name on the list as he bowled a 154.55 kmph thunderbolt against Ireland skipper Andrew Balbirnie at the Adelaide Oval.

South African pace sensation Nortje is also on the list at the fifth position. The right-armer bowled his fastest delivery in the tournament during a game against Bangladesh. Nortje fired the rocket into Bangladesh’s Afif Hossain, who was struck on the front pad but survived because the ball had pitched outside leg-stump.

Moreover, Wood also set a new record for the fastest spell in white-ball cricket history during the match against Afghanistan. The Englishman averaged around 149.02kmph across his four overs spell, surpassing the previous record held by West Indies veteran Fidel Edwards back in 2009.
