In the 21st match of the Big Bash League (BBL) 2022-23 season, the Melbourne Renegades took on the Sydney Sixers at Simonds Stadium in Geelong. The Renegades won the toss and elected to bat first.

The Nic Maddinson-led side got off to a slow start, with the top order struggling to score runs. Shaun Marsh was the top scorer for the Renegades, scoring 35 off 29 balls, but no other batter was able to make a significant contribution. The Renegades were eventually restricted to 124-7 in their 20 overs. Chris Jordan was the standout bowler for the Sixers, taking two wickets for 25 runs in his quota of 4 overs.

In response, the Sixers got off to a strong start thanks to a quickfire half-century from Josh Philippe. James Vince also chipped in with a useful contribution, scoring 37 off 29 balls. The Sixers reached the target with five balls to spare, finishing on 126-4 to win the match by six wickets.

Jordan was named the ‘Player of the Match’ for his two-wicket haul and a brilliant catch to dismiss Marsh. With this win, the Sixers have moved to second place on the points table. They have four wins to their name out of 6 matches.
