The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), on Friday, extended their gratitude towards Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi after he called up Rishabh Pant’s family and inquired about the wicketkeeper’s health following his car accident.

Notably, Pant was severely injured after his car crashed into a divider on the Delhi-Dehradun highway and caught fire. He was driving the car himself, and the crash occurred around 5.30 am on Friday morning when he reportedly felt sleepy and lost control of the car.

Initially, Pant was admitted to a private hospital in Roorkee before being referred to the Max Hospital in Dehradun. He had two cuts on his forehead, a ligament tear in his right knee, and also hurt his right wrist, ankle, and toe, along with abrasions on his back.

As soon as Pant’s accident news came out, his fans, teammates and several cricketers from around the globe wished him a speedy recovery on various social media platforms. Even the Indian Prime Minister inquired about his health and spoke to his family. The BCCI informed about it on Twitter and thanked the PM for his gesture.

“The Honorable Prime Minister of India, Shri @narendramodi ji, called up Rishabh Pant’s family and inquired about his health following his car accident this morning. We thank the Prime Minister for this gesture and his soothing words of assurance,” tweeted BCCI.

Earlier, Mr Modi, through his official Twitter handle, had tweeted that he was distressed after hearing the news of Pant’s accident and prayed for the cricketer’s good health and well-being.

“Distressed by the accident of noted cricketer Rishabh Pant. I pray for his good health and well-being,” wrote the Indian Prime Minister on Twitter.

As per the latest update, the doctors at Max Hospital did MRI scans on Pant’s brain and spinal cord. The good news is that all the reports are normal. The doctors will now do an MRI scan of his knee, and other joins today (December 31).
