Hours after losing the opening Test against India by 188 runs at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced their men’s squad for the second and final Test, scheduled to start on December 22 in Dhaka.

Left-arm spinner Nasum Ahmed, who is yet to make his Test debut, has been included in Bangladesh’s 15-member squad. Though, Nasum isn’t a rookie in international cricket, as he has played four ODIs and 28 T20Is for the Tigers.

Nasum has been picked in the side as the backup for Shakib Al Hasan‘s bowling. Notably, the Bangladesh captain bowled 12 overs in the first innings of the Chattogram Test, and he did not bowl a single over in the second innings.

Fast bowler Ebadot Hossain, who did not bowl in the second innings of the Chattogram Test, has been ruled out of the upcoming match.

Further, former captain Mominul Haque has retained his place in the squad and is likely to return, as hinted by Bangladesh’s head coach Russell Domingo.

“He has got 10 of his 11 hundreds at this venue (Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium). He’d be the first to admit that in last year he hasn’t got the runs. But he is too good a player to not have around. You cannot lose a player of Mominul’s quality. He will definitely be considered for the second Test,” said Domingo in the presser.

Bangladesh are trailing 0-1 in the series following their loss in the opening Test. The hosts were packed for 324 in their chase of 513. Earlier, India posted a total of 404 before bundling out Bangladesh for 150 in the first innings. India later scored 258/2 in their second innings thanks to brilliant centuries by Cheteshwar Pujara and Shubman Gill.

Bangladesh squad for the second Test against India:

Mahmudul Hasan Joy, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Mominul Haque, Yasir Ali, Mushfiqur Rahim, Shakib Al Hasan (c), Litton Das, Nurul Hasan, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Taijul Islam, Taskin Ahmed, Khaled Ahmed, Zakir Hasan, Rejaur Rahman Raja.
