In the recent past, India Women’s cricket team has impressed everyone with their consistent performances in both bilateral series and multi-team tournaments. Just a few months ago, India defeated Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup final to bag their seventh overall trophy and registered a historic 3-0 victory against the hosts England in ODIs.

One of the reasons behind the team’s success, particularly in the shortest format, has been the inspirational captaincy of Harmanpreet Kaur. The Punjab batter has been quite impressive in building a team with quite a few match-winners.

As India are now gearing up to host mighty Australia in the home T20I series, Harmanpreet has revealed her success mantra as captain. Harman reckoned that players don’t hesitate to express their opinions to her, which is the key feature of her leadership and has helped the team succeed.

“The most positive thing I feel is that they are opening up in front of me because if they don’t open up, then even I won’t be able to help them. They are trusting me, my plans, and my powers, and all these things are very important. I feel the support we are receiving from the other team members and the efforts the team is putting in is the reason for getting these positive results because if you have that trust in your team, you cannot lag anywhere on the field,” said Harmanpreet on Star Sports’ Follow the Blues show.

Harmanpreet said the ‘trust factor’ within the group is the biggest strength of her team, and it is essential for her to keep all players together.

“For me, it is very important keeping all the players together because, according to me, everyone should be able to share their views and be treated with equal importance. I know there are a few team performers who can go out and do well for the team, but you still need your other players who are with the team that need to be treated equally too because sometimes, some players need higher support,” added Harmanpreet.
