The ongoing Big Bash League (BBL) 2022-23 witnessed an unbelievable match at Sydney Showground Stadium on Friday, where the former champions Sydney Thunder were bundled out for the lowest total ever in the history of BBL.

Thunder, who won the 2015-16 edition of the league, were packed for just 15 runs by Adelaide Strikers in the 5th match of the ongoing season. Batting first, the Strikers posted 139/9 in their allotted 20 overs, with Chris Lynn (36) and Colin de Grandhomme (33) making valuable contributions.

In response, the Thunder fell like a pack of cards and were bowled out for 15 runs inside the powerplay, losing the contest by 124 runs. Sydney’s total of 15 broke the previous record of 21 all out by Turkey against the Czech Republic in 2019.

Brendan Doggett, the pacer who bagged two wickets in the first innings, was Thunder’s highest scorer with 4 runs. As many as five batters were dismissed for a duck. For Strikers, pacer Henry Thornton was the wrecker-in-chief as he picked up a 5-wicket haul for just 3 runs in 2.5 overs. Similarly, Wes Agar returned with figures of 4 for 6 in 2 overs.
