Mohammed Siraj and Virat Kohli teased the crowd in Chattogram on Thursday after the Indian pacer castled Bangladesh batter Litton Das on Day 2 of the ongoing first Test at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium.

The incident took place on the first ball of the 13th over in Bangladesh’s first innings. Siraj was bowling his second over of the new spell when he got involved in a war of words with Das.

Siraj said something to Das, after which the latter cupped his ears while taunting the Indian seamer. The umpire intervened and asked both players to return to their respective positions. These mind games seemed to affect Das’ concentration as he lost his wicket on the very next delivery.

Siraj stuck to his stump-to-stump line, and the ball stayed a bit low, taking the under edge of Das’ bat before crashing into the stumps. Both Siraj and Kohli were fired-up as they put hands behind their ears, gesturing towards the crowd like they didn’t hear anything.

Earlier, the KL Rahul-led Team India posted 404 runs on the scoreboard in their first innings. They began the proceedings from their overnight score of 276/6 but soon lost the wicket of half-centurion Shreyas Iyer (86 off 192). Ravichandran Ashwin (58) and Kuldeep Yadav (40) added a 92-run stand for the eighth wicket before being bundled out in the post-lunch session.

In reply, Bangladesh were 117 for the loss of 8 wickets in their first essay till the end of 40th over. Wrist-spinner Kuldeep has taken four wickets so far.
