The International League T20 (ILT20), owned by the Emirates Cricket Board, is all set to begin on Friday (January 13) at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Dubai Capitals, Abu Dhabi Knight Riders, MI Emirates, Sharjah Warriors Gulf Giants and Desert Vipers are the six teams that will compete in the tournament. Three of the six teams are owned by IPL franchises – Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders.

The T20 competition is quite different from the rest of the leagues, as each playing XI can have a maximum of nine overseas players with at least two UAE cricketers. Further, the stats from this event will not count in T20 records as, according to ICC’s regulations, the tournaments hosted by Non-Full Members cannot be attributed a T20 status.

Many familiar faces like Joe Root, Andre Russell, Robin Uthappa, Sunil Narine, Trent Boult, Yusuf Pathan, Wanindu Hasaranga, Marcus Stoinis, Colin Munro and Bhanuka Rajapaksa will be seen playing in the ILT20 2023.
