Fast bowler Mohammed Siraj (4/46) was the pick of the bowlers for India during the first ODI of the three-match series against New Zealand in Hyderabad on Wednesday, January 18.

He enjoyed a great time with his family and friends at his home ground after the match.

At the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Siraj delivered a superb spell of fast bowling and bagged wickets at crucial intervals. He was the one who broke the dangerous-looking partnership of Michael Bracewell and Mitchell Santner by dismissing the latter on 57 in the 46th over.

In the same over, Siraj sent back tailender Henry Shipley on a golden duck.

India finally won the match by 12 runs as fast bowling all-rounder Shardul Thakur dismissed Bracewell on the second ball of the 50th over in the second innings. Bracewell, who was the lone warrior for the Blackcaps, had to make a long walk back to the pavilion after playing a breathing knock of 140 runs off 78 balls.

Siraj’s family members and friends cheered from the stands

Siraj’s mother was happy to see her son performing infront of her eyes and said that she is hoping that the right-arm pacer continues to India proud with his good performances in the coming games.

“Mai allah ka shukr ada krti hoon ki mera beta India ka naam roshan kare, mere bacche ka performance aur acha rahe, mera baccha aur aage jaye, World Cup bhi khele mera baccha (I would like to thank Allah and hope that Siraj can continue to shine for India. Hopefully, he can continue his performances and make it into the World Cup squad),” said Siraj’s mother.

The video shared by the official Twitter handle of BCCI featured many of Siraj’s childhood friends, with whom he played cricket during his childhood days. They all wished him good luck for his future.
