Virat Kohli slammed his 46th ODI century on Sunday during India’s third and final match of the series against Sri Lanka at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram.
It was Kohli’s third ton in the last four ODI innings. He scored his first ODI hundred in over three years during the tour to Bangladesh in December 2022 and followed it up with a brilliant century in the opening game versus Sri Lanka on Tuesday.
Coming in to bat after the dismissal of captain Rohit Sharma (42), Kohli added a 131-run stand for the second wicket with another centurion Shubman Gill (116 off 97). Kohli reached the three-figure mark in just 85 balls and remained unbeaten on 166 till the end of India’s innings.
The Delhi lad smashed 13 fours and 8 sixes during his stay in the middle.
Kohli has now surpassed Sachin Tendulkar, who earlier held the record for most ODI centuries at home, with his 21st ton in 101 innings. Kohli also stormed past Mahela Jayawardene (12,650) to become the fifth-highest run-scorer in the 50-overs format.
Australian sports anchor and an ardent Kohli fan, Chloe-Amanda Bailey, was all over the moon after her favourite cricketer hit another stunning century in professional cricket.
“No body does is like the King! Virat Kohli is in some incredible form. Another stunning century. What a player! #INDvSL,” Bailey wrote in one of her tweets.

On the other hand, Iceland Cricket – who is known for sharing eye-catching content on social media – in their tweet wrote:
“The short form machine is well and truly fixed. ODI century no. 46 for Virat Kohli. Momentum has been built and the challenge now will be for him to replicate this form and consistency in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar trophy.”
